Newsletter September 2010

Volume 16 Issue 2

Summer is, by tradition, a quiet period for us philatelists. We generally put down our cateloges, albums, and tweezers and set off for a week or a fortnight in some faraway land of milk and honey - or in our case Sutton Bridge!! Actually it's quite nice here being so close to the countryside itself and not all that far from the main roads - and much closer to Dunchurch for October 17th, but more of that later.

In these past few months we have been very busy compiling and updating the latest 15th edition of the now world famous Stoneham catalogue. We have continued the format as before with obviously a great deal of updating and price changes. If you collect GB other than Machins or Wildings, and you haven't got the QEII Specialised yet, then this is the one for you.

I must say a hearty 'thank you' to De La Rue Brown who has been excellent in contributing his knowledge during the editing of this work. Additional help has come from dealer Stephen Sayer and Tony Child.

We are almost ready to go to press as I type this and we expect to take delivery by the end of September. Please click here for an order form that you can print off and send to me if you wish to pre order your copy. Please note that cheques will not be banked nor credit cards processed until we have received the catalogues and we are ready to dispatch.

Over the last couple of Newsletters I have mentioned the possibility of electronic distribution of our Newsletters and Auction listings. After feedback from members it has become apparant that this is the way forward for some. In the interim period we have been looking for a programme that would enable us to send out these items when required.

As you can imagine there are several types available and it has taken a while to evaluate all of them. However we also had something else in mind, which I will come onto in a minute, and we need to ensure that the programme had ALL the facilities required. Well now we have and we are almost ready to roll.

The new service will be trialled starting with the October edition. If you would like to receive your Newsletters and Auction catalogues by email instead of by post, please send an email now with your request - even if you have already done so before.
