Welcome
The idea of the Machin Collectors Club was born in the mind of its administrator, Melvyn Philpott in 1971 when he became interested in Machin cylinder blocks. However it was not actually launched until July 1995 from where it has since attracted over 1800 members worldwide.
The initial idea was to provide as fast a service as possible to Machin collectors, to give them the latest information in the rapidly changing Machin field at the time. This could be the latest plate numbers in booklets, dates on Warrant blocks, Cylinder and phosphor numbers on Cylinder Blocks. Other information also included the latest errors, including missing phosphors, colour errors, imperforates etc. etc.
This service is still provided each and every month, but many other services have since been added. These include:-
Sutton Stamps
Sutton Stamps is the latest addition to the services offered by the Machin Collectors Club. It is not only a virtual online catalogue, but also offers a rapidly expanding range of collectibles from (eventually) 1840 to date. Launched in October 2010, the range of products offered is gradually expanding and has already found a band of loyal supporters who now enjoy the excellent service offered coupled with very competitive prices and fast - and economical - delivery. Monthly Postal Auction
These usually consist of 600 - 800 individual lots each month and can range from inexpensive single lots to elusive rare items. Each alternate month items are included from all and any country or subject but tend to be from Great Britain.
Twice Yearly Fairs at Dunchurch near Rugby
These fairs are always extremely popular attracting up to 100 members each time. Officially commencing at 9am, although much activity occurs before this time, they are not only attended by members but also well known dealers such as A.G. (Jim) Bond, Arun Stamps (Tony Hender) and Alec Withell.
These fairs not only enable members to meet and socialise, but also to expand their knowledge of Machins - and stamp collecting in general.
